It amazes me how much email flows through my inbox these days. At lunchtime every day I am sifting through about 50 emails (some important, some not) so I'm very glad that right now as I finish up some work for school I realize that it has gotten below 20 for the first time in weeks and I am very happy to see it.

I saw this today in the local Union newspaper I receive every month. I was so afraid when Betsy DeVos became Secretary of Education, especially since she doesn't truly understand the need for some important federal legislation to protect our student's needs. I have read and heard more about plans for more school "choice" (read: destruction of public schools) and reducing the role of the federal government in education. I just hope someone comes to their senses soon and gets her out of there.
One of the nice things we do at my school is go to the local pub together to get drinks on Fridays. Not every Friday, mind you, but enough that it is a known example of our camaraderie. So, this past Friday we went and I enjoyed venting after a hard, long week. It helped me transition to my weekend of some relaxing (but, honestly, it was just a lot of work!).

AuthorI am a math teacher in the New York Department of Education. I infuse technology and real-world problems into my curriculum in order to prepare my students for the future. I would love for people across the country to recognize we teachers can't do it alone. If you don't believe me, come visit my classroom! Contact MeEmail UpdatesArchives
